Halloween Party Cum Mooncake festival gathering !

Our very first Halloween Party for decades ! Even though Halloween seems to be a creepy kind of event but we have decided that we do the "cuter" version of it instead.

No scary-looking masks, no revolting-looking food ... instead we have giant sized smiling orange pumpkins, smaller porcelain pumpkins and even an adorable pumpkin pail etc! All were bought from Daiso which offers a reasonable range of items to decorate the dining area.

The two giant pumpkins were really the center-piece of the dining area ! With the rest of the colourful desserts and ornaments placed on the table, this spot looked pretty festive !
The halloween hats and wands were also bought from Daiso.
Now we really have to ask everyone to take a photo with this cheerful background !
Check out the rest of the photos ...
Even our reluctant JL was being asked to join in our merry-making.
Only the ladies please ...
A group photo ... the black and the white team ...

Love these photos of the girls. They looked very happy and was quite willing to pose for the camera !

Not to lose out, the ladies were quite sporting to try out the roles of "wicked" and "evil" witches ! In fact, none of them looked wicked or evil, more like kind and comical type of witches !

We have brought forward the Halloween party and some of us do not have much time to "research" Halloween dishes to bring along, including myself. The fiery and spicy four-finger chicken wings were bought by Fang and Gavin from Ion and the chicken wrap with ham, bacon and cheese was made by BC.

Tiang cooked the tomato-based Fettuccine and BC baked 2 pizzas.

The firecracker prawns were made by myself but sharing the remaining plate with the non-spicy version of four finger wings. The unbaked version cheesecake with orange flavoured jello was made by myself. Under the jello, the "snakes" jelly was crystallized, since there was still half a packet of "snakes jelly" left,  they were hung around or inside the cheesecake which made it looked more 3-D and real !

Can you guess what is the first bowl ? It was actually a local desert called "boh boh cha cha" ! To make it more realistic, ACE has added in blanched chicken feet to the dismay of horrific BC ! And the small dumplings with bean paste were the "eyes" ! Pretty creative dish !
The mummies" were made by Tiang. She used some cooled off  Fettuccine and wrapped around a round biscuit. The eyes were m&ms ..we did not attempt to eat the mummies but they are more like a fun thing to do and the mummies were really cute !

Thanks to BC for baking and making the traditional mooncakes and Bing Pi mooncakes for us !
The poor lady was not feeling well and she still make the Bing Pi mooncakes early in the morning !
Salute to her ! We kept a few of her Bing Pi mooncakes and they were really good ... divine !
Our second round of photo-taking... someone has put a pointed hat on the plant and it really looked quite funny. There wasn't like a lot of places done up for this occasion, therefore we decided to take some photos at this spot as well.
The props does make a difference to bring out the Hallowen mood, doesn't it ?
Was glad that Tiang suggested to take down the giant pumpkins as props. They really did made an impact on how the photos turned out to be !
Everyone seems to fell in love this this pair of smiling pumpkins !
Another photo ...
And they can also be used to cover faces ! The girls wanted to try to hide themselves behind the pumpkins !
Eying the girls' capes now ....
CK was quite gamed to put on that little pinky cape and alas .. Min's pinky crown ! Salute to him !
And Dean must have been very pleased with how sweet the pomelo was that he can't take his hands off them !

Some close-up photos of the decorations around the house ... the eye ball with red streaks was bought from Mini Toon.

BC brought her precious collections for us to see ! These cards were given to her during our days in NP ! The fact that most cards were written in chinese were so meaningful when they were read out ! (click to enlarge)
English wordings does not give such a heart-warming feeling though ... sob
Some contents seems ridiculous and mysterious ... sometimes we just wonder "are you sure I wrote this ? I don't remember why I wrote it ?" Anyhow, it was really funny ..
Some were cute and you just couldn't help laughing when they were read aloud ... especially this card
Some were simple yet they played a part in creating great friendship in future ! Rather a truthful message to a friend during that time ...
Some notes were very "chim" and got "shen du" ...
These were precious memories that would stay with us for many years to come ...
I was so glad that friends like BC actually kept the cards for over 20 years ! (yes, Tang kept too, thank God !)This is probably one of my life's regrets of not keeping any of these adorable cards or autographs with me ...
